The other night, I showed up at my parents' house only to find it empty. As I walked towards the kitchen, I saw my dog looking at me through the back door. "What are you doing out there?" I asked through the glass. (This was not normal behavior. Normally, he is one of the first to greet me and he doesn't leave my heels until I acknowledge him.) And then I saw it. The mess he had made with the garbage in the kitchen. It was the worse I had ever seen."Ohhh!!" I exclaimed loudly as the realization hit me as to why he was outside and why he was staying out there. He had either put himself in time-out for his bad deed or he was hiding out to dodge the bullets after he realized that he shouldn't have done what he just did and would most likely get in trouble for it.
He came crawling through his doggy door, with his nose down, to my feet where he rolled over, apologizing for what he did. "No, you better go back outside." I told him. He slowly turned around, crawled back outside, and resumed his original position until the rest of the family came home.
Yes, he was one bad puppy. But his behavior cracks me up. He knows he was bad and he was so sorry. He always is. He wants to be good. He just can't help himself. I can understand that. I want to be good, too. And most of the time I am. But like everyone, I have weaknesses. His just happens to be the kitchen garbage.

Sarah-ism #516: Say the kissing part
If you are ever in Disneyland and Prince Charming, Eric, Phillip, or whoever, etc. asks you, “What is your favorite part of the movie?” Say the KISSING PART!!!!
Why do I say this, you may ask.
Five years ago we went to Disneyland for Christmas as a family. As we entered the park on our first day, we were excited to find Prince Phillip there waiting to welcome us. As he greets us, he bends down and asks Dinah (who is 5 at the time) “What is your favorite part of the movie?” Dinah answers, “The dancing part.” He says ok and picks her up and begins dancing with her. I immediately tell my sisters, “The next time a prince asks you, ‘What is your favorite part of the movie?’ Say the kissing part.” =)
Unfortunately, Dinah and I were unable to test to see if this same magic works here in Salt Lake when we went to Disney on Ice last month. But we still had a great time watching the Princesses skate with their Princes.

Why do I say this, you may ask.

Starting off on the right foot, but wrong shoe
What some might see as an omen for a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day, I got a laugh out of…all day long. You know those moments where you can either get mad, stomp your foot, and cry or you can choose laugh. I chose to laugh.
Yesterday I had somewhat of a grumpy, irritable day. So I decided that today I was not going to have a repeat. I went to bed early. This morning I didn’t lay in bed thinking about getting up for quite so long so I wouldn’t be as rushed. I wore a pair of my favorite pants. I didn’t have to look too hard for my keys. I got out the door with plenty of time to make the bus. I read a few chapters from the B of M and I finished a chapter in another book I am really enjoying. “Yes,” I thought, “this is going to be a good day.” Then right before I got off the bus I looked down at my feet and I saw…
…And I started cracking up. I laughed all the way to my office. And every time I looked down at my feet throughout the day I laughed again and again. This seriously and surprisingly made my day. I have no idea how it happened, apparently my mind was somewhere else when I put on my shoes this morning. These are the only shoes I have that I have the same shoe in two different colors.
I’ve decided that it’s good to have things like this happen every now and then. And days that aren’t quite so perfect to help you remember not to take yourself or life so seriously.
What makes this story even better is the fact that it has happened in my family before. Like sister, like sister. The heels on my shoes are the same size so I wasn’t walking lopsided. Warning to those who like buying brown and black of the same shoe.
